BREAST AUGMENTATION
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States, and one of our most popular services. . We’ll work closely with you to help you determine what size and type of breast implant would work best for you, where to position the implant for the most natural looking results, and where to make incisions in order to minimize scarring.
Whether you’re interested in increasing breast size, restoring breast shape and volume that may have been lost due to pregnancy or weight fluctuations, or correcting problems with current breast implants, we can help. We use the most advanced breast augmentation techniques to help you achieve a beautiful, balanced, and natural looking figure.
The shape of augmented breasts depends on the implant. Implants can be round or teardrop-shaped (anatomical). The choice depends on the look the female wants to achieve. Anatomical implants produce a gentle slope, resulting in a fuller upper area, whereas round implants create a round curve in the upper part of the breast. Another factor to consider prior to surgery is breast width, which determines the amount of “cleavage” between breasts and the outer curves.
When you choose breast augmentation, you will have many important decisions to make. Dr. McKissock and his staff will help guide you in deciding what the best option is for your goals. We strive to help you achieve beautiful results that match your body and your lifestyle.
MASTOPEXY
A mastopexy, or breast lift, is used when a woman presents with a more mild form of breast droop. In some women there may be a fine line between who should have this procedure and who can get by with just a breast implant. This lift can be performed in conjunction with a saline or silicone gel implant as well. It does have its limitations as to how much elevation can be attained. It is important to be very clear with what your goals are for your look.
BREAST REDUCTION
Particularly large and heavy breasts can create both aesthetic and physical concerns for women. While some women are self-conscious about a disproportionately top-heavy figure, other women may experience physical symptoms as well. Heavy and pendulous breasts can cause back, neck, and shoulder pain. Additionally, when heavy breasts rest on the chest, moisture may be trapped, leading to chronic skin rashes and infections underneath the breasts. Heavy breasts may also induce lethargy and reduce the ability to exercise. In certain cases, insurance may cover breast reduction surgery to alleviate these medical conditions.
Breast reduction surgery (reduction mammoplasty) can address both physical and aesthetic concerns by removing fat, breast tissue, and skin to reduce the size and weight of the breasts. Breast reduction is often combined with breast lift surgery in order to elevate and reshape the breasts to give you a more balanced and youthful looking figure. While some women may desire only a slight decrease in breast size, others may seek more significant reduction, as well as lifting and re-contouring. We offer a full range of options so that you can choose the procedure that works best for your specific needs.
Dr.McKissock will discuss with you what procedure or combination of procedures will help you reach your specific goals. This discussion is important for helping you to achieve the precise results you desire. Each procedure is fully customized for the individual patient.
Candidates for Breast Reduction
Ideal candidates for breast reduction surgery are women whose oversized breasts are causing medical problems, physical or social discomfort, or frustration in general. Women must not be pregnant or breastfeeding while undergoing this procedure. It is important for patients to have realistic expectations in order to be satisfied with the results of their surgery.
Breast reduction surgery is a tremendously satisfying procedure for many women. We perform breast reduction surgery for women with physical symptoms such as neck and back pain, bra strap grooving, difficulty exercising. Additionally, we perform breast reductions to help improve self esteem issues associated with overly large breasts. Choosing to have breast reduction can be a very gratifying decision. This procedure is commonly combined with a tummy tuck for women who desire an improvement in their full body shape.
Breast reduction is performed to improve a woman's appearance and self image, and alleviate symptoms such as:
* Deep grooves from bra straps
* Back and neck pain
* Limited physical activity
